BIO

Leah Simone Scott is a NYC-based, Black American filmmaker from Ponte Vedra Beach, a suburb of Jacksonville, Florida. She graduated summa cum laude from Howard University and earned her MFA in Film with a concentration in Creative Producing from Columbia University, where she was a Lenfest Fellow.
Leah has held numerous entertainment internships and externships with organizations including National Geographic Partners, United Talent Agency, and Cortés Filmworks helmed by Emmy Winning Producer and Director Lisa Cortés. During the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election, she created content for the Democratic National Committee as a Rapid Response Video Editor for @KamalaHQ across social media platforms.
In total, Leah has written and directed two short films and produced fourteen. Additionally, she has written a total of four feature film screenplays and five pilot scripts.
Her short film Love Bites (writer/director) premiered at the Newark International Film Festival in 2023 while her thesis film, The Last Summer (writer/producer) directed by Patrick Wei earned a Columbia University Leone Family Production Grant and premiered at the 2024 Oscar-Qualifying New Orleans Film Festival. It has since received multiple accolades, including Best Short Film and 2nd Place Grand Prize at the HBCU First Look Festival and the Audience Award at the Columbia University Film Festival. Most recently, her film Oh Happy Day! (producer) directed by Ivan Rome premiered at the 2025 deadCenter Film Festival.
Leah's upcoming short film Remember Her (writer/director), slated to go into production mid-2026, is the recipient of the 2026 Pandora Short Film Award.
With her work, Leah aims to craft diverse and unique narratives that resonate universally by fostering empathy and understanding around complex societal issues and interpersonal dynamics.
